About commissioning

What is a certified true copy?

A certified (notarized) true copy is a photocopy of an original document that a Notary Public has compared against the original and certified — with a seal and signature — as a true and accurate copy.

It lets you hand a verified copy to an authority that needs proof of a document, while the original never leaves your hands. Many visa, immigration and apostille applications ask for certified copies of your IDs, criminal record check or credentials.

How a copy gets certified

A short, in-person visit. Bring the original; leave with a sealed, signed certified copy.

  1. 01

    You book

Pick a notary location and time. No payment online.

  2. 02

    Bring the original

The notary must see the original document in person.

  3. 03

    We verify the copy

A photocopy is checked, page by page, against the original.

  4. 04

    Sealed & signed

The notary applies the seal and signature — $30 per seal.

  5. 05

    You take the copy

Leave with your certified true copy; keep your original.

We suggest bringing your own photocopies to speed things up — but we can make the copies for you and certify them on the spot.

Before your visit

A few practical things that keep your appointment quick and your copies accepted.

  • Bring the original

The notary must hold the original document to certify a copy of it.

  • Photocopies welcome

Bring your own copies to save time, or we can make them for you.

  • Other people's documents

We can certify copies for someone else if you are authorised and we can see the original.

  • Black & white vs colour

We certify black & white copies as standard — check with the receiving office if colour is required.

  • One document per page

Each document is generally certified on its own page; ask us if an authority accepts several on one.

  • Multi-page documents

We seal the first page and stamp all pages together; separate seals are available on request for a small fee.

Where to get it notarized

Notary services run by appointment at two of our locations. (Our other locations handle fingerprinting only.)

Both locations are open Monday to Saturday. Appointments are recommended so a notary is available when you arrive.

Simple, honest pricing

One of the most affordable quality notary services around. You pay at your appointment, never online.

The 30% multi-seal discount applies from your second seal onward. Separate per-page sealing carries a small additional fee when the receiving office requires it.

Part of getting your documents abroad
